Planning for the Future of Longshore Club Park!

Thank you for visiting our project website as we plan for the future of Longshore Club Park.

This vital open space serves a variety of recreational functions and allows our residents to come together and be close to Westport’s greatest natural coastal resource - Long Island Sound!

The Town has engaged Stantec - landscape architects, planners, and engineers - to bring creativity and broad thinking to develop recommendations for replacement, relocation and/or enhancement of existing facilities and new facilities. Stakeholder and park patrons will be actively engaged to develop a program plan for park improvements and to provide feedback on improvement recommendations.

Town staff, boards and commissions will be afforded timely input on progress and, collectively with patrons and stakeholders, will influence the final capital improvement plan for Longshore Club Park. As we embark and progress in the development of the plan, it is important to look at the park in its entirety to determine how to accommodate identified needs and determine what may or may not be feasible.

The Park is a 168-acre diverse recreation facility that features, Parks and Recreation Department offices, Parks maintenance staff and equipment, a golf course, The Inn at Longshore, tennis courts (and winter ice rink), Longshore Sailing School, platform tennis courts, a pool complex, a playground, a multi-purpose pavilion, and a marina.

As we look to the future, we know that improvements to traffic flow, parking, and pedestrian circulation; the needs of recreation enthusiasts and stakeholders; and trends and sustainable best practices in park offerings will be paramount.

Together, we will create a vision for Longshore that retains its greatest assets, enhances environmental and coastal resiliency, and prepares to host generations of future park enthusiasts. Please stay tuned to this site for updates related to the scheduling of public meetings, a web-based public survey, and related documents and exhibits illustrating how the plan is progressing.
